“I love art. You see it in all the details around the shop," said Paul Turpanjian of Ridgefield, who opened Yogart on Old River Road in 2013.

Probiotic cultures are in his dairy creations along with real baklavah, citrus and vanilla. He seeks to surprise customers with fitness and art classes in the same space as the dining area.

Digital images of famous artwork hang on the walls - with a play on the frozen yogurt treats.

Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" is holding a frozen dessert cup, and cherubs are painted around a portion of "The Creation of Adam."

"The Thinker,” a hand-sculpted statue replica of Rodin's work, sits atop a condiments station.

Turpanijian invites jazz artists for June concerts, and works in conjunction with the Edgewater Arts Council on events including the annual art festival. He offers fitness classes in the space occasionally, too.

The shop also offers something unusual but right for the season: soup.

“People are surprised. They don’t always see the sign at the counter, and then they try it and like it,” he said.

“That place is pretty good,” said Staphanio Colon, a customer. “You have to try the crepes."
